Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Capt (r) Saqib Zafar has said that various projects are underway for the protection of historic and cultural heritage of South Punjab.
“The region is being turned into a tourists attraction and Rs7o million is being spent on the beautification of Bahawalpur Museum and construction of Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Memorial Gallery.”
Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Capt (r) Saqib Zafar was speaking during a visit to under-construction building of Bahawalpur Museum.
Director Bahawalpur Museum Zubair Rabbani and engineers of Building Department also accompanied him.
He informed that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Bazdar is keen to preserve the historic and cultural heritage of South Punjab and promote tourism in the region.
He said that Bahawalpur Museum has been playing an important role in the promotion of culture, handicrafts and arts of the region.
Progress is also being made on the project and work on the project will begin soon. Apart from this,, work is underway on tourist resort projects at Fort Monroe and other places to provide recreational facilities to the tourists visiting the region”, he declared.
Capt (r) Saqib Zafar said that The initiative will also provide employment opportunities for local youth. He said that more events and fairs like Cholistan and Thal Desert Rally would be promoted.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary South Punjab Captain R Saqib Zafar inspected the Sir Sadiq Mohammad Khan Memorial Gallery under construction and directed to beautify the front elevation of the museum and said that the exterior of the museum should be moulded in such a way that it reflects the true picture of Bahawalpur.
He said that all the required funds have been released for the construction of Bahawalpur Museum.
He directed that the project of Bahawalpur Museum should be completed by February 2022 in any case.
The CS South Punjab is personally monitoring various schemes launched in the districts of South Punjab for timely completion.
