KARACHI – A passenger plan of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) managed to reach the Dubai by making low flight after it lost altitude massively due to hydraulic malfunction mid-flight.

The emergency was experienced on PK213 flight which departed from Karachi for Dubail at 2:05 am.

The plan suddenly descended 26,000 feet in just six minutes when it was flying near Muscat. A spokesperson said the pilot declared an emergency as the aircraft dropped to the altitude of only 10,000 feet.

The pilot also requested assistance from Muscat Air Traffic Control and radar services.

However the pilot managed to resolve the hydraulic system malfunction during the flight and successfully navigated to Dubai after flying at a lower altitude for an hour.

The spokesperson added that after inspection at Dubai airport, the aircraft – Airbus A320 – was cleared for its next flight from Dubai to Islamabad and then to Skardu.

The spokesperson pointed out that due to administrative challenges, PIA is facing a shortage of aircraft parts.
