LAHORE – Punjab capital Lahore received heavy rain on Tuesday evening, causing waterlogging and power outages in the city.
Rainfall hits various parts of the metropolis including Mall Road, Lakshmi Chowk, Shimla Pahari, Jail Road, Airport, Gulberg, Upper Mall, Qartaba Chowk, Mughalpura, Tajpura, Baghbanpura, Garhi Shahu, Sanda, Samanabad, and Johar Town.
The downpour led to flooding of roads and streets across city, causing significant challenges for motorists trying to go about their daily activities.
The showers also disrupted power supply in several areas of Lahore, with dozens of feeders from the Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) tripping. Met Office has forecasted more rain in the city over the next 24 hours.
PMD, in its reports, said Monsoon currents from Arabian sea are penetrating Southern and eastern parts of the country. A shallow westerly wave is prevailing over Kashmir and adjoining areas.
It also mentioned that rain-wind and thundershower will hit south Punjab. The new weather system will bring more rain at isolated places in northeast Punjab, Potohar region, and Kashmir.
