An additional district and sessions court on Monday granted interim bail to MPA Khurrum Leghari till September 13 in a case of sexual harassment and blackmailing of a woman.
The MPA, in the bail plea, pleaded that the police have ignored the actual facts while registering the case, requesting the court to approve his bail plea. Later, the court approved the bail till September 13.
It is to be recalled that the Lahore Police registered a case against pro-Jahangir Tareen group MPA Khurram Laghari for allegedly harassing a woman.
The case No. 777/21 was registered on the complaint of Amna Yaqub under the provisions of breaking into the house, aerial firing, and making death threats.
The applicant stated in the FIR that the MPA kept forcing her to have illicit relations by pretending to be unmarried and forced her to meet secretly for a year, adding that Khurram Leghari also forced her to sign a marriage form.
The victim further stated in the FIR that she had complained to Leghari’s father about the situation, adding she later decided to register a case after his father’s advice.
