Galliyat Tahfaz moment (GTM), a community based organization working for the environmental protection of Galliyat has expressed deep concern over the foundation stone laid by Prime Minister for five star hotel at Nathiagali and termed it negating the very slogan of government regarding climatic mitigation.
”Multistory Hotel is being constructed on the land of Ayubia National Park and have encroaching the Reserve Forest without fulfilling the legal process ”.
Chairman GTM Sardar Sabir and General secretary Sardar Iftikhar briefing to the media told that it is disgusting and dismay that, neither the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) for construction of Hotel has been made, nor soil test for bearing capacity has been conducted, since proposed patch of land is situated at ridge of Forest.
They further claimed that non technical and non professional decision in haphazard of Government will last irreparable loss to the ecosystem of Galliyat.
Moreover, the degradation of ecosystem not only proven dangerous for the inhabitants of local communities nonetheless will be witness negative effect around the world.
Therefore conservationists opposing the project and they of the opinion the Government should review the decision so as to safeguard the public interest and to avoid consequences, they requested.
”Prime Minister Imran Khan is bent upon to renege his own promises and election manifesto regarding protection of environment especially forests in the wake of climatic changes that would adversely affect entire South Asia especially Pakistan in the near future”.
