Grenade attack at Pakistan’s ex-Chief Justice Saqib Nisar’s home leaves two cops injured

LAHORE – Pakistan is witnessing an uptick in terrorism and now the house of former chief justice Saqib Nisar came under attack on Wednesday.

It has been learnt that unidentified attackers hurled hand grenades at the residence of former top judge in Garden Town area of the provincial capital.

Justice (retd) Nisar, 69, was at his residence at the time of attack. No member of his family was hurt in the attack.

The grenade was hurled from outside and it landed in the garage, and two cops on duty suffered injuries as a result. Authorities are looking into the matter but no attacker has been detained.

Following the attack, a huge contingent of police rushed to the residence of former CJP and a probe is underway.

Interestingly, no surveillance cameras were installed in his house.

For the unversed, Saqib Nisar served as Pakistan’s 25th chief justice of Pakistan from December 31, 2016 till January 17, 2019.
