ISLAMABAD – The federal government on Tuesday started preparations to deal with the upcoming protest of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to Islamabad on November 24.

In response to PTI’s planned protest and possible sit-ins, the government decided to tighten security arrangements in the federal capital.

The Islamabad Police requested 9,000 personnel from Rangers and the Frontier Corps (FC), starting from November 22, and police authorities also ordered the acquisition of anti-riot kits.

Besides it, Section 144 was imposed in Islamabad for two months, which would ban all public gatherings, processions, rallies and protests involving five or more individuals.

The sources said that the PTI also completed preparations for the protest in Islamabad, with party sources claiming that 10,000 party workers already arrived in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and surrounding areas.

The sources said that the PTI is determined to secure the release of its founder from jail and is demanding the return of their mandate.

The party also declared that they would not back down until their demands are met.

The PTI called for a decisive protest march to Islamabad on November 24, demanded the reinstatement of the 26th Amendment, the release of arrested party workers, and the return of their electoral mandate.
