ISLAMABAD – The federal government likely to further increase electricity prices by Rs3.49 per unit, the sources close to the development said on Tuesday.
The move cause more burden on the power consumers.
The Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) moved a request seeking Rs3.49 per unit increase in electricity prices under the monthly fuel price adjustment for April.
The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) would take up the plea on May 30.
“The power consumers will face additional burden of Rs35bln if the CPPA’s request is allowed,” said the sources.
K-ELECTRIC FIVE-YEAR POWER ACQUISION PROGRAM
Earlier, the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved K-Electric’s five-year power acquisition program, covering 2024 to 2028, to ensure sustainable and stable electricity supply in Karachi.
The that K-Electric submitted a comprehensive power acquisition plan on March 20, 2023. The five-year program includes the integration of renewable energy, local fuel, and electricity from the national grid.
K-Electric plans to incorporate 1282 megawatts of renewable energy into its generation mix, including 270 megawatts of solar energy and a 200 megawatt hybrid plant near Dhabeji.
