The Sindh government, through SIBA Testing Services (STS), has declared the results of the Teaching License Test, approving licenses for 646 educators across the province. Under the newly enacted Sindh Teaching License Policy 2023, 4000 qualified teachers participated in the test, held on January 28, 2024. Out of these, 646 teachers, comprising both government and private sector educators, successfully cleared the test, securing an Elementary (Class 1-8) Teaching License.

The rigorous test comprised two sections: assessing content knowledge through Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and evaluating pedagogical content knowledge through Constructed Response Questions (descriptive questions).

Candidates had to achieve a minimum of 20 out of 40 marks in the Content Knowledge section and at least 30 out of 60 marks in the Pedagogical Content Knowledge section to pass, ensuring proficiency in both subject matter and teaching methodologies. Sindh Education Minister Syed Sardar Ali Shah expressed his appreciation for the educators’ achievement, recognizing their crucial role in shaping the nation’s future.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to enhancing education standards in Sindh, promising continued collaboration with stakeholders to foster an inclusive and innovative learning environment. Moreover, the Sindh government plans to offer professional incentives to licensed teachers, including eligibility for promotion and additional allowances. Additionally, 700 new Elementary School Teachers posts have been approved at BPS-16 to accommodate the licensed educators, marking a significant step in bolstering the education sector.

The passing candidates, ranging from various regions and sectors, represent a diverse cohort dedicated to elevating the teaching profession. Their success underscores the importance of implementing policies that recognize teaching as a skilled profession, contributing to the overall improvement of Pakistan’s education system. Renowned education activist Shahzad Roy commended the efforts of Sindh’s Minister of Education, Syed Sardar Ali Shah, emphasizing the initiative’s transformative impact on the education landscape.

This teaching licensing initiative sets a new standard, elevating the status of educators and emphasizing the importance of quality teaching in national development.
