Announces increasing funds for Rehmatul Lil Alameen scholarship to Rs1b

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Saturday declared that it is responsibility of the government to ensure food security for the people and ensure prosperity of the farmers as well.
“Close cooperation between the government and the private sector is essential to ensure food security.”
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was talking with Federal Minister for National Food Security Syed Fakhr Imam who called on the CM and discussed issues of mutual interest, food security and increase in crops production.
Talking on the occasion, the chief minister informed that Punjab has abundant wheat reserves, adding that Punjab province has the largest share in meeting food requirements of the country.
“Our government has protected the rights of farmers and farmers cultivating wheat, sugarcane and other crops have received full compensation for their labour”, the chief minister claimed and added that a farmer card has introduced to provide subside directly to farmers.
He said that the previous governments had exploited rights of the farmers, which had been visible from street protests by the growers for their right in the previous government.
“But today under the PTI rule, the farmers are prosperous due to the pro-growers policies of the government”, Usman Buzdar said.
The chief minister underscored that it is necessary to use modern technology to increase agricultural production, adding that farmers are being provided with modern equipment and machinery besides supply of quality fertilizers id being ensured for increased production.
“The government’s farmers-friendly measures have increased agricultural production and will boost agriculture in the province further”, he said.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar announced an increase in Rehmatul Lil-Alameen scholarships.
“The funds for Rehmatul Lil-Alameen scholarships have been increased to Rs1 billion and a total of 10,574 needy talented students will be gifted with the Rehmatul Lil Alameen scholarships. Under PEF, 677 more Rehmatul Lil Alameen scholarships will be given”, the chief minister informed.
He said that “Seerat Chairs” have already been set up in Bahauddin Zakaria University Multan, Islamia University Bahawalpur, Ghazi University Dera Ghazi Khan, Government College University Faisalabad, University of Chakwal and Okara University.
Under the Seerat Chair, researchers will be provided support for research.” He said that celebrations under Ashura Rehmatul Lil-Alameen have been going on official level in all the 36 districts of Punjab.
“The greatness and glory of Hazrat Muhammad (SAWW) is beyond the description, thinking and imagination of human beings as Hazrat Muhammad SAWW is the last of the Prophets Whose dignity and respect is more than the entire universe.”
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, in his message on World Mental Health Day, said that a healthy life is directly related to a healthy mind.
He stressed that creation of awareness among the people about mental illness prevention and precautionary measures is the need of the hour.
He said that due to poverty, insecurity and lack of education, the number of people suffering from mental disorders is increasing.
Unusual use of mobile phones and computers is also leading to mental disorders besides living outside the law increases the risk of developing mental illness”, he said
On the other hand, Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar ordered an effective campaign to control dengue and said that the departments concerned should play their due role to curb the spread of dengue and ensure implementation of the anti-dengue plan.
The Chief Minister directed the administrative officers to continue effective monitoring of anti-dengue measures.
Dengue larvae should be eradicated through effective surveillance of government and private buildings. Tyre shops and cemeteries should be continuously monitored,’ he said and warned that any negligence or failure in anti-dengue activities would not be tolerated.
