Gokina village located in close proximity of Islamabad has emerged as a role model village, with all the latest and state-of-the facilities, thanks to Huawei, such as education, health and access to Internet making the village first smart village out of hundreds and thousands across Pakistan.
This was revealed during an event held simultaneously in Islamabad, Dongguan, (China) and other parts of the world. The event, Huawei 2023 Sustainability Forum “Thrive together with Tech” Realizing Sustainable Development featured parallel sessions globally, served as a platform to unveil the tangible progress in global connectivity initiatives.
A short documentary was also screened on the occasion telling the story of a brave woman of the village, Mrs Adeela Khan who took the initiative towards digitization of the village with Huawei support.
Federal Secretary IT Hassan Nasir Jamy, Chief Guest on the occasion was all praise for Huawei and all the partners for achieving a significant milestone in journey towards a Digital Pakistan. “It is indeed an honor to share the remarkable progress we have made in collaboration with Huawei and other esteemed partners,” he said in his speech that was telecast live in China and other parts of the world.
The Smart Village Pakistan Project is a beacon of hope, a symbol of progress, and a testament to the power of collaboration. Together, let us build a Digital Pakistan that leaves no one behind, he said.
Huawei continues to spearhead efforts to bridge the digital divide through its commitment to the ITU’s Partner2Connect Digital Coalition.
The tech giant, having joined forces with the coalition in 2022, has pledged to bring connectivity to over 120 million people in remote areas across 80 countries by 2025.
