The Government College University Lahore on Tuesday formed the Medi Care Club, a students’ society, to work for the health care of the Ravian community and beyond.
The University of Health Sciences Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Javed Akram, an eminent Old Ravain, is appointed the co patron-in-chief of the Medi Care Club who also chaired its inaugural ceremony.
GCU Vice Chancellor Prof.Dr.Asghar Zaidi administrated oath to the first executive committee of the Club comprising of the university’s top students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof.Zaidi said that the mission of the Club is to promote awareness about health care issues in the society, organize health care camps and promote GCU as an institution that produces leaders who have an impact in the domain of health care.
He said the Club would also organize Health Fair at GCU, with debates, seminars and training workshops and invite lectures by renowned opinion makers and health care experts to raise awareness about the prevention of commons non-communicable diseases.
Prof.Zaidi also said the Medical Care Club would enrich the scope of the social welfare activities and would provide a platform to students to interact with health care experts.
Talking about societies culture at GCU, the Vice Chancellor said diverse cultural milieu at the GCU is an off-shoot of more than 54 societies and clubs jointly run by the students and the staff advisors.
UHS VC Professor Dr Javed Akram congratulated GCU, saying the such clubs should be established at all universities of Pakistan.
