Funeral prayer of Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh offered in Tehran

TEHRAN  –  The funeral prayer for Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh, who was martyred in a missile attack, was held in Tehran on Thursday  (today).

Ismail Haniyeh’s funeral prayer was performed at Tehran University, led by Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei.

A large number of people from various schools of thought, including women, participated in the funeral prayer.

Participants in the funeral carried pictures of Ismail Haniyeh and Palestinian flags while Ismail Haniyeh’s funeral was given the same protocol as former Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.

The funeral prayer for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh would also be performed tomorrow in Doha, the capital of Qatar, after which he would be buried in Doha.

It should be noted that the funeral prayers in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh were performed in several countries, including Pakistan on Wednesday while various religious and political parties announced that they would also hold funeral prayers in absentia at different locations today.

It may be mentioned here that Hamas Chief Ismail Haniyeh was martyred in an assassination attack in Iran on Wednesdaymorning. Ismail Haniyeh was attacked at his residence in Tehran while he was in Iran to attend the inauguration ceremony of Iran’s new president Masoud Pezeshkian.
