ISLAMABAD – In latest bid to promote clean energy and to reward brilliant students, the federal government is planning to distribute 100 electric bikes.

Federal Minister for Industries and Production Rana Tanveer Hussain announced that 100 top-performing students will be awarded free electric bikes to encourage young talent to participate in the country’s growing electric vehicle industry.

Minister highlighted the latest initiative to be broader government push to promote environmentally friendly transportation and foster innovation in electric vehicle sector. The distribution of electric bikes to students is expected to create awareness about sustainable mobility while providing a platform for young individuals to engage with emerging technologies.

Tanveer was of view that the future of Pakistan’s transportation sector lies in clean energy, and it is important to involve our youth in this transformation. By offering e-bikes to these students, we hope to inspire a new generation of innovators who will lead the country’s journey towards greener, more sustainable solutions.

The initiative is part of Pakistan’s larger efforts to boost the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) across the country.

Rana Tanveer Hussain also stressed that this initiative aligns with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision for a cleaner future, with commitment to establishing 10,000 EV charging stations nationwide by 2030. The move is part of the government’s broader plan to reduce the country’s dependence on imported fuel and foster a cleaner, greener transportation system.
