A bloody shootout between the security forces and the alleged terrorists in North Waziristan tribal district during an Intelligence Based Operation (IBO) on Wednesday led to the martyrdom of four soldiers including an officer of the Pakistan Army. Seven insurgents were also mowed down in the retaliatory fire. Another soldier sustained injuries during the skirmish.
According to Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) the security forces were conducting IBO in the terrorist’s hideouts in Mama Ziarat area some 7 kilometers South West of Datta Khel Tehsil of North Waziristan when the terrorists opened fire on them in an attempt to flee from the area. Resultantly four soldiers including Lieutenant Agha Muqaddas Ali Khan embraced Shahadat while another soldier received serious injuries. However, during exchange of fire seven terrorists were also killed by the forces who responded effectively.
“On confirmed intelligence about presence of Terrorists in a hideout near Datta Khel, North Waziristan District, Security Forces conducted an IBO in Mama Ziarat, 7 kms South West of Datta Khel. As soon as troops cordoned the area, terrorists opened fire to flee from the hideout. During operation, 7 terrorists killed. In intense exchange of fire, 4 security forces personnel embraced Shahadat including an officer, while 1 soldier got injured. Large cache of arms, ammunition & IEDs recovered from hideout during clearance”. An ISPR communiqué said.
Those martyred include Lieutenant Agha Muqaddas Ali khan , age 26 years resident of Lahore, Lance Havaldar Qamar Nadeem, Age 36 years, resident of Layyah, He was married and is survived by wife , 2 sons & a daughter, Sepoy Muhammad Qasim, age 24 years, resident of Layyah and Sepoy Tauseef, age 23 years a resident of Narowal district. The Security forces are also reported to have also recovered a huge quantity of weapons, explosive materials and other assets during the operation.
