KARACHI – The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former President Arif Alvi in three different cases.

The former president had approached the IHC and submitted that he was booked under Anti-Terrorism Act and other serious charges despite a peaceful protest.

According to the information available so far, the cases were filed against Alvi in Mianwali, Taxila and Rawalpindi.

He asked the court to restrain the police from arresting him and from including his name in the unidentified FIRs.

Subsequently, the court granted protective bail to Arif Alvi for 20 days, and directed him to deposit surety bond worth Rs50,000.

The court also stated that the matter would be referred to a constitutional bench for further hearings. The constitutional bench would review the case details and other related matters.
