KARACHI – In the first One Day International match, the West Indies Women’s team set a target of 270 runs to win against the national team.
Played at Karachi Cricket Stadium, in the first match of the three-match One Day series, the West Indies Women’s team won the toss against Pakistan and decided to bat first.
Batting first, the West Indies Women’s team scored 269 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in the allotted 50 overs, with captain Hayley Matthews playing an innings of 140 runs off 150 balls and remained not out.
From the guest team, Shemaine Campbelle scored 45, Sheneta Grimmond 23, Chedean Nation and Aliyah Alleyne scored 17 runs each, while Rashada Williams scored one, Stefanie Taylor 2, Afy Fletcher 4, Zaida James 8 runs before being run out, Karishma Ramharack scored 5 runs and remained not out.
From the national team, Sadia Iqbal and Tuba Hassan took two wickets each, while Nida Dar and Nashra Sandhu took one wicket each.
It’s worth mentioning that the trophy for the One Day series was unveiled yesterday. The captains of the cricket teams of Pakistan and West Indies participated in the trophy unveiling ceremony and posed for pictures. Both teams also had extensive practice sessions at Karachi Stadium.
