Falling rupee takes a breather against dollar

Falling rupee took a breather against the US dollar on Tuesday, snapping the five-day losing streak.

According to the State Bank of Pakistan, the dollar opened at Rs177.89 in the interbank market and closed at Rs177.88, recovering one paisa (+o.01 percent).

Within the open market, the rupee was traded at 179/180 per dollar.Earlier on Monday, the dollar hit the highest-ever level of Rs177.89 against the rupee. Before that rupee plunged to 177.71 on December 10, 177.61 on December 9, 177.43 on December 8 and Rs176.79 on December 7. Overall, the local currency shed 9 paisas against the greenback during the last two days. —APP
