ISLAMABAD – Engineering is difficult and requires rigorous coursework and projects, and a proper background for foundation but Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) is making changes amid low demand.

A new policy changed allowed FSc Pre-Medical students to gain conditional admission into engineering programs. This notable change aims to provide opportunities for students who, despite their pre-medical background, wish to switch to engineering or computer science fields, thereby broadening their academic and career prospects.

Under Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) new guidelines, engineering universities across Pakistan can now allocate up to 40percent of their engineering program seats to FSc Pre-Medical students.

To facilitate this change, the council requires these students to complete an eight-week mathematics course before starting their engineering studies. Upon finishing the course, students must pass a test to demonstrate their competency.

Also, Pakistan Engineering Council established a minimum academic requirement for engineering program admissions.

As per latest changes, students secured 60pc marks in their intermediate exams to be eligible, ensuring that only those with a solid academic background can pursue engineering degrees.
