LAHORE – The deliberations are underway to impose restrictions on usage of drone cameras for coverage of general elections.

The sources said that the Punjab Home department is reportedly contemplating restrictions on the use of drones.

“The final decision to restrict drones will rest with the Chief Minister of Punjab,” said the sources.

They said that  once the Punjab Chief Minister’s decision is made, the restrictions on drone usage will be implemented. The Punjab home secretary is awaiting directives from the Punjab Chief Minister.

The restrictions will apply to all drone cameras including those employed by TV channels, political parties, and private productions.

Moreover, as part of the security measures for the General Elections 2024, the personnel from the Pakistan Army will be deployed on election duty starting from February 4th or 5th.

According to the Punjab home department,  the soldiers assigned to general election duties will assist the police and district administration across Punjab, including Lahore.

The Punjab Police will utilize all possible resources for security during the election.

A total of 130,000 police officers will be deployed for election duty.

Five police officers will be assigned to extremely sensitive polling stations, while four officers will be deployed to sensitive polling stations.

Besides it, two police officers will patrol on motorcycles.
