ISLAMABAD – Ruet Hilal Committee, the country’s central moon sighting committee, announced Pakistan would celebrate Eidul-Fitr on April 10 Wednesday as the Shawwal moon sighted, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a press conference, Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad said the weather was cloudy in most areas of the country and it took some time to gather testimonies. He mentioned receiving testimonies of the sighting of the moon for the month of Shawwal.
It was decided with consensus that the first of Shawwal will be on April 10, and it will be the day of Eidul-Fitr.

Zonal committees in Lahore, and Karachi denied receiving testemonies of Shawwal moon however the central moon sighting committee reportedly received moon sighting testimonies from different parts of the country including Sheikhupura, Jiwania, Kohlu and Gwadar.
Shawwal Moon Not Sighted in Lahore: Zonal Members
Members of Zonal Ruet e Hilal committee in Lahore said Shawwal moon was not sighted in provincial capital on Tuesday.
The key meeting of Ruet-e-Hilal, Pakistan’s top moon sighting committee, is underway in capital Islamabad to collect testimonies of Shawwal crescent on account of Eidul Fitr.
The meetings of zonal bodies also met to sight the Eid 2024 moon. The zonal committees will collect moon sighting testimonies from different parts.
Abdul Khabir Azad will chair the meeting of central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee along with zonal committees in provincial capitals.
Ahead of moon sighting, there is great excitement and anticipation among people, especially among youngsters as Eid is a time of celebration, joy, and togetherness, marked by special prayers, mouth-watering foods, gifts, and spending time with family and friends.

If Muslims see crescent moon tonight, Eid-ul-Fitr will be observed on April 10 Wednesday along with other Muslim nations like Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Turkey, Iran, UK and other Gulf nations.
In rare case, if Shawwal crescent is not sighted, Eid will be held on April 11, Thursday, with total 30 fasts.
