Zonal Sighting of the Crescent Committee has confirmed the sighting of the Zil Hajj moon in Peshawar during their meeting on Friday. This marks the beginning of the Islamic month of Zul-Hijjah, which includes the celebration of Eid al-Adha.

The Zonal Committee has verified the sighting, but the official announcement will be made by the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, which is the authoritative body for moon sighting declarations in Pakistan.

Zonal Committee spokesperson said they have received credible reports of the moon sighting from various parts of Peshawar, and parts of KP.

When is Eid ul Azha

The exact date of Eid ul Azha depends on the moon sighting and will be announced on Friday.

In Pakistan and around the world, the religious festival is celebrated with great enthusiasm, beginning with the Eid prayer. A central tradition of the festival is the Qurbani, or animal sacrifice, typically involving a goat, sheep, cow, or camel. This act commemorates Hazrat Ibrahim’s (A.S) willingness to sacrifice his son in obedience to Allah SWT.

The meat from the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts: one-third is kept by the family who performed the sacrifice, one-third is given to relatives and friends, and the final third is distributed to the poor and needy.

During this major festival, families and friends gather to share meals, exchange gifts, and enjoy social activities. The festive atmosphere lasts for several days, with people visiting each other’s homes and participating in community events.
