ISLAMABAD – The newly-formed government has announced first relief in electricity bills for the month of April 2024 under fuel cost adjustment (FCA).
Federal Minister for Energy Sardar Awais Leghari said electricity price has been reduced by Rs3.82, attributing the decline in prices to fuel adjustment.
He said the FCA for the running month had been reduced by Rs2.14 to Rs 4.92 per unit from Rs 7.06 per unit.
He added that the fuel cost adjustment for first quarter of the fiscal year was determined at Rs 4.43, which has now decreased to Rs 2.75, resulting in a decrease of Rs 1.68 per unit in electricity bills.
The minister said the bills for running month will be lower as compared to the previous month.
Leghari explained that Nepra fixes the ‘reference tariff’ for the entire year at the start of each year, while the Fuel Cost Adjustment (FCA) is determined on monthly basis.
