LAHORE – Parts of the countries including Pakistan witnessed a major hike in egg prices as consumption increased amid the winter season.
Egg prices in Pakistan have increased by about 28 percent following a surge in feed costs.
In the provincial capital Lahore, egg prices have surged to a historic high, touching Rs400 per dozen. At the retail level, each egg is being sold at Rs-32-35.
At the wholesale, the egg rates range between Rs360 and Rs380 per dozen. The country saw a huge price increase despite the price for dozen eggs being set at Rs290.

In the last couple of months, the price of egg saw about Rs10, and poultry people linked the surge to the demand and supply gap for soybean meal.
