Caretaker Federal Minister for Education & Professional Training Madad Ali Sindhi after assuming charge of the office recently has set a good example by making surprise visits of various government schools in different areas of the federal capital. During these surprise visits, the minister has come face to face with the harsh reality of absence of funds resulting in pathetic condition of schools.

He has also come to realize that the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE) has failed to maintain discipline in these over 400 schools and most of these institutions are either working on ‘self-help’ basis or adhocism is the prevailing norm there. One such visit was conducted on Friday when the Caretaker Minister visited the Islamabad Model School for Girls in Saidpur Village. There, the minister was surprised to learn that the school was working without a gardener and a security guard.

“We have requested the FDE to send a watchman and a gardener and soon they will send” a teacher of the school was quoted as saying. “It is surprising that a girls’ school located in the heart of the federal capital is without a security guard and a gardener,” said the minister. He inquired how the school administration was coping with the absence of two key workers.
