ISLAMABAD – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday imposed a fine of Rs30,000 on Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri for violating the code of conduct in the NA-75by-elections.
According to the ECP challan, Suri had participated in the Daska by-election campaign on February 11.
So, as per the ECP’s, code of conduct under the Election Act of 2017, prohibited public office holders from taking part in election rallies, in any manner whatsoever.
Two people were killed and several injured as violence broke out during the elections held in Punjab’s Daska tehsil last week.
Moreover, severe irregularities were also reported in the by-polls.
