Provincial Minister for Industries & Trade Mian Aslam Iqbal presided over a meeting here at Civil Secretariat on Monday. Issues regarding the establishment of special economic zones (SEZs), sales of plots for setting up of industrial units and provision of infrastructure in industrial estates were reviewed in the meeting. Industries Secretary Zafar Iqbal, PIEDMC Chairman Syed Nabeel Hashmi, Addl Secretary Industry, CEO PIEDMC and concerned officers attended the meeting. While addressing the meeting, provincial minister has said that revolution of economic development will be occurred by establishing special economic zones in the province.
Industrialists and investors will be given special incentives and plots on subsidised rates for establishing industrial units in special economic zones.
He said that industrial estates equipped with latest infrastructure will be proved a game changer for the development of the province. Foreign investors were investing in Punjab due to investors’ friendly policies of the government.
Economic conditions of Punjab will change due to industrialisation. He said that steps were also being taken for revival of sick industrial units besides accelerating the process of industrialisation.
Work was being expeditiously continued on the project of Allama Iqbal Industrial City Faisalabad. 2.5 lac job opportunities will be created by setting up industries in this project.
