Dr Naveed Akhtar takes charge as IUB VC

The Islamia University of Bahawalpur (IUB) Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar has taken charge of the post of Vice Chancellor the Islamia University of Bahawalpur. Engr. Prof. Dr. Athar Mahboob after completing his four Year tenure handed over the charge of Vice-Chancellor to Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar at Baghdad-ul-Jadeed Campus Bahawalpur last evening. Registrar Prof. Dr. Moazzam Jamil was also present on this occasion. Prof. Dr. Naveed Akhtar is an expert with a strong background in the field of pharmaceutical sciences.

He was born in Bahawalpur, Pakistan and received his primary education from Government Abbasia High School and Government Sadiq Egerton College, Bahawalpur. He completed his B Pharm (Bachelor of Pharmacy) degree in 1989 and MPhil (Master of Philosophy) degree in Pharmaceutics from Punjab University in 1991. In 1994, Dr. Naveed Akhtar joined the Islamia University of Bahawalpur as a Lecturer in Pharmaceutics. He recognized the importance of further education and pursued a PhD in Pharmaceutical Cosmetics Technology from Anadolu University, Eskişehir, Turkey, which he successfully completed in 2001. On his return to Pakistan, Dr. Naveed Akhtar established the first state-of-the-art pharmaceutical cosmetics laboratory in the country.—PR
