Dr Javed vows to provide financial, legal support to women victims of domestic violence

The caretaker provincial minister of Health and Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Professor Dr. Javed Akram visited Women Protection Center Wahdat Colony.

Additional Secretary Department of Social Welfare and Bait ul Mal Amir Shafiq, Director Muhammad Suleman, DG Punjab Women Protection Authority Irshad Waheed, District Women Protection Officer Rabia Usman and other officers were present. Provincial Health Minister Prof. Dr. Javed Akram also met the women victims of sexual violence at the Women Protection Center. Additional Secretary Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Amir Shafiq and Other officers informed Prof. Dr. Javed Akram about the details of the facilities provided to women in the Women Protection Center.

Later, the caretaker provincial health minister Prof. Dr. Javed Akram also visited Filter Clinic Wahdat Colony.

Provincial Minister of Health, Social Welfare and Baitul Mal Prof. Dr. Javed Akram said that financial and legal support is given to women victims of domestic violence in the Women Protection Center Wahdat Colony. 100% implementation of the law on protection against violence against women in Punjab is being done.

Professor Dr. Javed Akram said that the Department of Social Welfare and Bait ul-Mal is an institution of good to the people. The Women Protection Center provides facilities to women who are deprived of income, food, clothing and shelter. In Pakistan, unfortunately, only one percent of land is transferred in the name of women.

The provincial health minister also said that the discriminatory behavior in our society about free movement of women should be discouraged. Medical, psychological and legal support is also provided to women victims of domestic violence in the Women Protection Center. Punjab government is taking basic steps against violence against women. Women should also be given free working rights at workplaces.

Dar ul Aman and Crisis Centers across Punjab have been given the status of Women Protection Centres.

A person who does not act upon the Protection of Women Amendment Act against Violence 2022 can be punished with imprisonment from three months to two years and a fine of fifty thousand to five lacs.
