Digital census good step to bring harmony: Saeed

Minister of Labor and Manpower Sindh Saeed Ghani has said that the digital census conducted by Pakistan Statistical Office is a good step and we understand its importance. The apprehensions of all the political parties, including PPP, in the 2017 census will no longer exist and this will bring harmony between the provinces. On the basis of census, the country and the provinces can be put on the path of development.He expressed these views while speaking as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the upcoming census 2022 digital census enumerator training at Adamji Science College under the Pakistan Statistical Institute and later interacting with the media.

Saeed Ghani said that digital census is a good step, we understand its importance.In 2017, the concerns of the political parties, including the PPP, will no longer be there. Accurate census will bring harmony between provinces and if the country has accurate population data, we will be able to plan better. Saeed Ghani said that the Sindh government will fully cooperate with the Statistics Institute. The digital census will improve the count of people living in Sindh including Karachi.

Talking to the media on the occasion, the Minister said that census is the basis for the development of any country, objections were raised on the census conducted in the past. In any case, an atmosphere of trust should be established between the provinces.

To a question, he said that this time the previous objections in the census must be removed. In the past, many objections were raised regarding the census in Sindh.

Addressing the training teachers, he asked them to consider the census as a national duty, because only on the basis of the census, the country and the province can be taken on the path of development and only on the basis of the census, resources and representation in the National Assemblycan be allocated.

He said that no other political party had the highest reservations on the 2017 census, but the People’s Party and it is good to have a digital census for the first time and this time the census will be acceptable to all. In response to a question, he said that he tried and hoped that no one would have objections to the upcoming census. On a question, Saeed Ghani said that according to the constitution, the census should be conducted after ten years.Unfortunately, after serious concerns over the 2017 census, the Election Commission announced elections in the country after the 2018 elections and assured that the next census would be conducted as soon as possible.
