DG Excise for strict action against tax defaulters

LAHORE – Director General Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control Punjab Faisal Fareed visited Excise Directorate’s Region-B on Tuesday where Director Excise Ahmad Saeed briefed him about the departmental reforms.

The DG ordered to achieve April’s targets and revenue recovery and emphasized the importance of timely tax payments by citizens, adding that governmental systems rely on public taxes.

He urged citizens to demonstrate a socially responsible behavior by paying their taxes promptly.

He instructed field officers to set targets for the remaining days of the fiscal year and work diligently to achieve revenue collection targets.

The DG warned underperforming inspectors and commended the performance of Inspectors Altaf ur Rahman, Muzammil Sian and Naseer Nuthar.

Those inspectors who received warnings included Fida Hussain Shah, Maryam Butt, Moin Arshad, Habib ur Rahman, Khalid Zaman, Fakhar Riaz, Manzoor Hussain, Saif Malik and Shahid Amin. Additionally, directions were issued to improve the performance of Excise and Taxation officers of Zone 14, Wasim Arif Butt; Zone 6, Asim Bashir and Zone 19, Maqsood Kazmi. It was disclosed that Region B had achieved 84% of its target.

The DG stated that along with strict action against major defaulters, delinquent commercial units would also be sealed.
