Provincial Minister for Social Welfare and Bait ul Maal (SW&BM) Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari has said that the Punjab government of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) under the leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has successfully completed its three years.
The corona pandemic, Buzdar government achieved maximum targets for the fulfillment of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision, which is itself a clear proof of the goodwill and hard work of the Chief Minister.
During a press conference at DGPR on the completion of 3 years of the present Punjab government, he said that almost 100% increase in the development budget of the Social Welfare Department was a gift of the Chief Minister to the people which will enable the department to complete various welfare schemes.
Secretary Social Welfare Punjab Hassan Iqbal and Director General Shahid Niaz were also present in the press conference. Minister SW&BM Yawar Abbas Bukhari said that free vocational training of special persons has been started through vocational training institutes.
Admission fee, tuition fee and hostel fee for special persons on admission in government institutions have been abolished.
During this period 7453 special persons were recruited in government agencies and another 7949 were provided jobs in private companies.
He told the media that in Bahawalpur and Faisalabad, the institution ‘Nasheman’ was set up for free technical training of special persons. Approval has been given to set up a special persons’ center ‘Nasheman’ at a cost of Rs. 160 million in DG Khan and Multan too.
For the first time, boards have been set up in all Tehsil Headquarters Hospitals for registration of special persons, determination of disability and issuance of certificates.
“We are now launching an online service that will allow special people to apply for a disability certificate at home”, said the minister.
Bukhari said that there are 10 panagahs in Punjab under the Social Welfare Department. “New panagahs at a cost of Rs 185 million have been approved in Jhang, Multan and Sahiwal”, he said.
He said that construction of new Darulamaan buildings at a cost of Rs. 265 million was completed in 06 districts of Punjab, Narowal, Kasur, Sheikhupura, Multan, Lodhran and Hafizabad.
Construction of new Darulaman buildings at a cost of Rs 165 million was approved in Rahim Yar Khan, Chiniot and Gujarat.
Syed Yawar Abbas Bukhari said Approval has been given for setting up of Model Children Home at a cost of Rs. 200 million in Attock and Toba Tek Singh.
Other development projects include the upgradation of the District Industrial Home (Sanatzar) in Attock district and the construction of a new Sanatzar building in Khanewal.
“In the last 3 years, Rs. 249 million has been distributed among 26038 deserving and needy people from Punjab Bait-ul-Mal” he said. Yawar Abbas Bukhari said that transgender will not be allowed to become a source of fun but will be made a useful member of the society.
Approval has been given to set up a community welfare center for transgender in Lahore at a cost of Rs. 160 million. “This is the first project of its kind for the welfare of transgender in the world, where accommodation and vocational training of transgender will be arranged so that they are not considered just a source of entertainment.
