Dense fog in Punjab disrupts traffic on motorways [List of Closed Sections]
LAHORE – The dense fog continues to blanket areas of Punjab for the past few days, disrupting traffic on motorways and national highways at different locations.
Motorway police spokesperson Syed Imran Ahmad said heavy fog in different parts of Punjab has disrupted traffic flow on major motorways and national highways leading to Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and other cities.
The Lahore-Islamabad Motorway (M-2), Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M-3), the motorway from Pindi Bhattian to Multan (M-4), and the motorway from Multan to Rohri (M-5) have been closed due to the dense fog, he said.
The Lahore-Sialkot Motorway has also been shut down due to the fog. On the national highways, traffic is facing difficulties due to thick fog in areas such as Thokar, Mohlanwal, Mangamandi, Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Mian Channu, Chichawatni, Khanewal, and Multan.
An increase in the intensity of fog has also been recorded in in Lodhran, Bahawalpur, Ahmadpur Sharqia, Rahim Yar Khan, and Sadiqabad.
The spokesperson said motorways are closed during foggy conditions to ensure public safety.
He advised citizens to prefer traveling during the daytime, as the fog tends to clear between 10 am and 6 pm, which is considered the best time for travel.
