Renowned Pakistani singer Nayyara Noor passed away after a brief illness in Karachi at the age of 71.
She was undoubtedly one of the top playback singers in the country. With no formal musical background, Nayyara did not receive any formal training in music, however, she proved her God-gifted singing talents all over the subcontinent.
It was in 1968 that Nayyara Noor started singing songs on Radio Pakistan and then Pakistan Television in 1971. From here onward, she never looked back on her unstoppable musical journey.
Her was the period when other famous singers such Noor Jehan and Farida Khanum were reigning the industry yet this youngster because of her beautiful voice and hard work carved out a place for herself.
Nayyara Noor showed her excellence while working with every major composer for film and TV.
Also many understood Faiz Ahmed Faiz because of her singing his revolutionary poetry. She was recipient of several awards and accolades including the title of Nightingale of Pakistan.
Above all she was also a humble soul and was never tempted by material things. Music had been a passion for her but she always gave priority to her family.
Making money had been of a secondary consideration for her. She seldom went on musical tours and was very selective about live performances.
In her hey days she could have earned a lot of money but preferred her family and children to everything else.
Though her demise has saddened everyone, hundreds of songs and ghazals by Nayyara Noor will remain fresh in the minds of people for all times to come.
