In line with the vision of Prime Minister of Pakistan, the Punjab government is encouraging investment in the province and timely issuance of No Objection Certificate (NOC) and other facilities would especially be extended to investors of cement industry.
Punjab Chief Secretary Azam Suleman Khan stated this while presiding over a meeting to review matters related to issuance of NOC for new cement plants and expansion of existing industry here on Friday.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Planning and Development Hamid Yaqoob Sheikh, Secretary Industries Capt (r) Zafar Iqbal, Secretary Irrigation Ali Murtaza, Secretary Environment Saima Saeed, Secretary Local Government Dr Ahmad Javed Qazi, Chairman PITB Azfar Manzoor and officers concerned. The participants deliberated on finalizing procedure for issuance of NOC to applicants for new cement plants.
The chief secretary directed that all relevant departments including Irrigation, Environment, Industries and Local Government to adopt a unified strategy to remove unnecessary hurdles in installation of new cement plants. He said that vast investment opportunities existed in the province, adding that business activity would not only strengthen economy but also create jobs.
The meeting was briefed that space has been identified for new cement plants in four districts Khushab, Mianwali, Chakwal and DG Khan and further process is underway.
