Senior Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that on the orders of Prime Minister Imran Khan and Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar crackdown continued against hoarders in Gujranwala, Layyah, Khanewal, Mandi Bahauddin and Chakwal where huge stocks of wheat have been seized in these raids.
The Food Department has seized more than 90,000 bags of wheat in 10 districts of province and initiated legal action against the hoarders. According to the detail 762 raids were conducted and 267 vehecals were confiscated and 213 FIR registered. The action will continue even during the holidays on the instructions of Senior Minister Abdul Aleem Khan who is personally monitoring all this campaign.
The minister said that these negative hoarding activities lead to profiteering in the market and increase in prices while hoarding has become a social menace. Abdul Aleem Khan said that a large consignment of wheat has been seized from Bahawalnagar, Dera Ghazi Khan, Vehari, Malsi and Kot Addu and the Food Department has taken strict action to seize the stock.
Punjab Food Minister Abdul Aleem Khan said that wheat procurement campaign in Punjab has entered in its final stage and stockpiling rays will not allow this campaign to be affected.
