More than 125 players and support staff of all the five teams and match officials participated in the second edition of the Lanka League (LPL) which finished on Thursday night and not a single case of Covid-19 positive was registered (barring one, which was also proved to be the fake result) in last 25-days.

Prof. Arjuna de Silva, the chairman of the medi-cal panel of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC), who was also the Medical Director (MD) appointed for this tour-nament attributes this success to the hard work done by his team.

Speaking exclusively over the telephone from Colombo on Friday morning, he said, “the conclu-sion of the second edition of the LPL with without any disruptions due to Covid during a pandemic with the threat of omicron as well is a major achievement for Sri Lanka in general and for SLC in particular”.

“The fact that we had crowds as well helped en-hance the event. This was a team effort. I would like to thank the Hon. Minister for his total commitment to LPL, SLC, the health ministry secretary and DG , Epic unit MOH, the army commander and the army”.

“The entire medical team was fantastic. A spe-cial mention to Dr Daminda Attanayake (Dy. Medi-cal Director) for her untiring effort”.

He also thanked the players and all officials who followed all the protocols.

“With the talent unearthed at this LPL it is obvi-ous the cricket in Sri Lanka is back!”, he signed off.
