Conspiracy behind death of General Bipin Rawat
A DEVASTATING loss for India! General Bipen Rawat, India’s first Chief of Defence Staff, perished in a horrific helicopter crash on December 8, along with his wife Madhulika and 11 others, leaving the nation dazed, bereaved and in deep shock.
World leaders from countries US, Australia, UK, and Paki-stan poured condolences on the demise of CDS General Bipen Rawat.
General Nadeem Raza, CJCSC and General Qamar Javed Bajwa, COAS expressed their condolences on his tragic death. No negative comments observed from Pakistan side which shows that humanity always comes first.
General Bipen Rawat was an Indian military officer who was a four-star general of the Indian Army. He served as the first Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of the Indian Armed Forces from January 2020 until his death.
Prior to taking over as the CDS, he served as the 57th and last Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff Committee as well as 26th Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.
He took office of Chief of Army Staff as COAS on 31 December 2016, after retirement of General Dal-bir Singh Suhag. He was the third officer from the Gorkha Brigade to become the Chief of the Army Staff, after Sam Manekshaw and Suhag.
CDS Gen-eral Bipin Rawat was the highest serving military official in the Indian army, who was appointed to the newly created post of CDS, a day before he was set to retire as the army chief on 31st December, 2019. General Bipin Rawat was appointed by the Modi government as the army Chief by superseding two senior officers.
He was to act as the point per-son for BJP government for coordinating between three defence services. National Security Advisor Ajit Doval played a crucial role along with Defence Secretary Ajay Kumar to finalize the roles and re-sponsibilities of the new office of the Chief of De-fence staff.
The tri-service agencies, organizations and commands relating to cyber and space were placed under the command of the CDS, and he was also acting as the Military Advisor to the Nuclear Command Authority.
The CDS was also be member of Defense Acquisition Council chaired by the de-fence minister and defense planning committee chaired by NSA.
In 2018, Rawat defended the army Major involved in the Kashmir human shield incident, where a Kashmiri man was tied to a jeep as a human shield.
The officer was awarded a Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card by Rawat for counter-insurgency opera-tions.
Rawat had been criticized by the opposi-tion party leaders for making political state-ments during the Citizenship Amendment Act protests. On his visit to the United States in 2019, General Rawat was inducted to the United States Army Command and General Staff College In-terna-tional Hall of Fame.
He was an honorary General of Nepalese Army in accordance with the tradition between the Indian and Nepali armies to confer the honorary rank of General upon each other’s chiefs to signify their close and spe-cial military ties.
General Rawat was considered close to Modi gov-ernment, the appointment of Indian CDS was not welcomed by tri-service chief right from the outset, as they termed it as a political move by BJP/ RSS government.
Right from the begin-ning General Rawat’s appointment was sur-rounded by rumors of being an arrangement between the General Bipen and Modi to control the armed forces and exercise a tighter grip over the three services.
General Bipen did not enjoyed a good reputa-tion in Indian air force circles, his statement to undermine the role of IAF in national security was much criti-cized and Indian IAF chief had to publically differ from the statement of General Bipen, thus initiating serious friction among the senior military and politi-cal circles.
As accord-ing to Chinese media, the crash of a helicopter with General Bipen Rawat, on board was unfor-tunate. India’ defense manufacturing sector has very limited capability.
It can make com-ponents of arms and some weapons at home, but most of its military equipment is imported and as-sembled in India. Its locally produced weapons are mostly modeled on arms from other coun-tries.
The death of General Bipen Rawat took place ap-parently as a result of rivalry within the tri-service of Indian Armed forces.
The chopper Mi-17V5, is a boosted version of Mi-17 which has been especially upgraded for carrying VVIPs.
The aircraft was fully fit, with no bad weather condi-tions or engine failure. Interestingly, the only survivor from 14 people is Group Captain Varun Singh who is an Air Force officer, the rest were all from the army.
Now, the voices from veteran Indian army officers like Briga-dier Sudhir Sa-want (Retd) have appeared in public domain that publically expressed suspicion of con-spiracy in the helicopter crash and viewed that the sleeper cells of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) may be behind the crash. More-over, differ-ences were observed among Indian NSA, Ajit Doval and CDS demanded sacking of Ajit Doval. There is a possibility that well-wishers of Ajit Doval had some links in this chopper crash.
