Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and chairman of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting, Senator Faisal Javed has said that a comprehensive and effective national advertising policy should be formulated which not only promotes the industry but also relates to government projects.

He said, “Government advertisements should also be aired on PTV and FM radio. Restore the stagnant growth of the media industry. For these purposes, the government has come up with an effective marketing plan that will provide financial security to the creators and other experts in the field. Media growth has stalled, it needs to be improved. The ministry should have its own monitoring system.”

The views were expressed by him while presiding over meeting of the Senate Standing Committee on Information and Broadcasting on Wednesday. Other members who attended the meeting included Senator Anwar-ul-Haq Kakar, Khushbakht Shujaat, Pervez Rashid besides Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Syed Shibli Faraz who is an ex. officio member, Secretary of the ministry Ms. Shahira Shah, DGPIO, MDPTV and other senior officials.

During the meeting, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting briefed committee about the National Advertising Policy, working procedures of PTV Sports with it’s future programs and broadcasts. The Committee was also informed by the Ministry of Information that the work is being done on National Advertising Policy. For this purpose, meetings are being held with all stakeholders.
