RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Founder Imran Khan’s trouble increased as a new complaint has been moved against him over charges of speaking against the state institutions and creating ‘hateful narrative’, the sources familiar with the development said on Tuesday.
The sources said that the complaint was moved by a Rawalpindi resident.
“An FIR will be registered against Imran Khan over charges of speaking against the state institutions and spreading false propaganda,” said the sources.
A local TV reported that a journalist is said to be the complainant.
Last week, Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari addressed a press conference and said that the provincial cabinet approved legal proceedings against Imran Khan over what she said “a hateful narrative” against the state institutions.
“The Punjab Home department will take steps in this regard,” said Azma Bokhari while addressing a press conference about the 8th cabinet meeting with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in chair at the DGPR on Friday.
Azma Bokhari said, “The PTI founder is spreading a hateful narrative against the state institutions and is trying to become Sheikh Mujeeb,”.
The minister said that all those people who were coming out of the jail after meeting the PTI founder were also equally involved in spreading the hateful narrative, and the cabinet also decided to take action against them.
“An inquiry report was conducted by the Home department and was presented today before the cabinet. Eleven times, a pattern is adopted to spread that narrative. A serious nature of statements are made and spread,” said the minister.
“Creating anarchy and spreading hate against the institutions is the agenda of this party,” said the minister, emphasizing upon the security of the country.
“What did Imran Khan do when he was in power? Why do they mention 1971 again and again? He is quite fond of becoming Sheikh Mujeeb. Nowadays, he mentions the names and mentions the London Plan,” said Azma Bokhari.
“The cabinet has allowed us to file a complaint in this regard. But this is final that Pakistan and its security is the most important for the nation. If any of us does not remain alive it does not mean that there will be any impact on Pakistan,” she added.
