CM Maryam sets six months deadline for construction, repair of Punjab’s all roads

Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif chaired a special meeting. CM set a six months deadline for the construction and repair of the Big and connecting roads of Punjab. On the direction of CM, Provincial Minister Sohaib Bharath and Secretary C&W visited and inspected the roads. CM directed to launch the construction project of five express ways in collaboration with the public private partnership soon. It was informed during the meeting that construction of 10 highly dilapidated and dangerous condition bridges has been launched.

On the direction of CM, the bridges have been closed and construction and as well as repair has been launched. CM directed that quality should be ensured in the construction, repair and rehabilitation project of roads at any cost. CM was informed during the briefing that 811 roads will be constructed, repaired and rehabilitated across Punjab.

For the first in the history of Punjab, 16558 km construction and repair of roads will be undertaken simultaneously. Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Advisor Pervez Rasheed, Provincial Minister for C&W Sohaib Ahmed Bharath, MPA Sania Ashiq, Chief Secretary, Secretary Finance, Secretary C&W and other concerned officials attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister also presided over a meeting regarding the School Education department. It was decided to reconstitute the School Education Council during the meeting. Approval was also granted to undertake restructuring of the Punjab Curriculum Wing. CM directed to restore morning assembly in the government schools. On the direction of CM, tetra milk will be provided in the schools in order to meet dietary needs of the students. This pilot project will be launched in the schools of district Rajanpur and flavoured milk will be provided with the cooperation of Engro Foods.

Maryam Nawaz directed to launch provision of milk project for the students across the province. She expressed her concern over the affairs of Punjab Text Book and Curriculum Board. She expressed her indignation over delay being caused for the provision of curriculum books to the students. CM sought a comprehensive plan to transfer the schools across Punjab on solar energy. The proposal to start afternoon classes and evening coaching centers in the government schools was also reviewed.

CM directed to ensure implementation on the appointment of CEO. Maryam Nawaz underscored that we would initiate all possible steps for the revival of better and quality education in the government schools across Punjab adding that it is the right of every child studying in the government schools to acquire education according to the international standard. Matters pertaining to the School Transport Programme, electric bikes, bags free schools and other affairs were also reviewed during the meeting.

Senior Provincial Minister Maryam Aurangzeb, Provincial Adviser Pervez Rasheed, Members Provincial Assembly Sania Ashiq, Nausheen Adnan, Chief Secretary, Secretary Education, Secretary Finance, MD Punjab Curriculum and Text Book Board, MD Punjab Education Foundation, CEO Punjab Education Initiative Management Authority, MD Punjab Education Sector Reforms Programme and concerned officials participated in the meeting.
