Curb aerial firing, illegal weapons display, IGP tells cops

Punjab Inspector General of Police Rao Sardar Ali Khan on Sunday took notice of a aerial firing incident in which a child was killed during a wedding ceremony in Sheikhupura. The IG Police directed the RPO Sheikhupura to submit the report in this regard.
The Punjab IG Police directed to ensure the provision of justice to family of the slain child on priority basis. He said that and there should be no delay in taking strict legal action against the arrested accused.
Taking notice of the another incident in which three persons were killed in exchange of firing between two groups in Pakpattan, the Punjab IG Police sought a report from the RPO Sahiwal and directed to arrest the accused and take strict legal action.
He added that timely delivery of justice to the affected families should be ensured while ensuring uniform implementation of the law.
In addition, the Punjab IG Police has ordered launch a strenuous crackdown on those resorting to aerial firing, possession or carrying illegal weapons across the province.
Rao Sardar Ali directed the RPOs and DPOs to personally monitor the violation and take action against illegal weapons and aerial firing in their ranges and districts on daily basis.
He further said that the incidents of killing of civilians by aerial firing are not tolerable at any cost and operations of the police teams should be further improved with effective supervision.
Reports of these operations should also be sent to the Central Police Office regularly. He stressed upon taking strict action against anti-social elements involved in aerial firing, illegal weapons and display of weapons under zero tolerance policy.

A monthly subsidy of Rs1000 will be given to 200 million people of 100 million families on flour, pulses and ghee during the next six-month programme.
Hasaan Khawar, while giving details of the Ahsas Ration Programme, disclosed that registration of families earning less than Rs 31,000 per month will be started from Monday.
A web portal will be set up for this purpose and deserving families will be able to buy daily necessities such as flour, pulses and ghee at affordable prices from utility stores and retail shops.
