Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza and Iraqi Defence Minister Juma Enad Sadoon Khattab Al Jibori on Friday discussed matters pertaining to further strengthening of security and defence cooperation between the two countries.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) in a statement said that the Iraqi minister, who is on official visit to Pakistan, called on the chairman joint chiefs of staff committee at Joint Staff Headquarters. Both sides also deliberated upon the prevailing international and regional security environment, said the statement.
The Iraqi defence minister lauded the professionalism of Pakistan Armed Forces and acknowledged their sacrifices in fight against terrorism.
Earlier, upon arrival at Joint Staff Headquarters, a smartly turned out tri-services contingent presented ‘guard of honour’ to the visiting dignitary, said the statement.
A day earlier, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa during a meeting with the Iraqi defence minister said that Pakistan acknowledges sacrifices rendered by Iraqi nation in fight against terrorism.
The Army Chief also offered all possible assistance and cooperation to Iraq in development and defence-related fields..—TLTP
