On the occasion of Eid, amidst celebrations across Pakistan, there have been reports of certain individuals spreading false and negative narratives against state institutions, particularly in the wake of an incident in Bahawalnagar two days ago. Following the incident, various named and anonymous accounts on social media have been actively engaged in disseminating misinformation aimed at defaming the Pakistan Army and other state institutions. Despite clarifications from Punjab Police regarding the incident, which emphasized that the matter had been resolved quickly through joint investigation with the army, propaganda continues to circulate. Residents of Bahawalnagar have stepped forward to counter these narratives, affirming that peace prevails in their region and condemning the efforts of anti-national elements to sow discord.
They express gratitude towards both the Pakistan Army and Punjab Police for their crucial roles in ensuring security and stability. Despite these efforts to discredit state institutions, the resilience and unity of the Pakistani people remain evident.
There is a call for the government to take strict measures to curb the spread of false propaganda and uphold the honor of the country’s defenders.
