LAHORE – Chicken meat prices dropped significantly in Lahore and other cities of Pakistan amid declining inflation rate in the country.
The per kilogram prices of chicken meat dipped Rs29 as today’s government rate has been fixed at Rs403 as compared to previous day’s Rs432.
However, the price of live chicken decreased by Rs20, fixing the new rate at Rs264 per kg in wholesale market and Rs278 in retail market.
In Multan, the wholesale price of live chicken has been fixed at Rs264 while retail price stands at Rs278 per kg. However, the meat price has been set as Rs400 per kg.
A day earlier, the chicken meat price in Islamabad stood at Rs400 per kg.
Per Dozen Egg Rates
The egg rates saw no change in Lahore and other cities of Punjab. The government rate stands at Rs324 per dozen.
Inflation in Pakistan
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said headline inflation declined to 4.9 percent y/y in November 2024, in line with the MPC’s expectations. This deceleration was mainly driven by continued decline in food inflation as well as the phasing out of the impact of the hike in gas tariffs in November 2023.
However, the Central bank noted that core inflation, at 9.7 percent, is proving to be sticky, whereas inflation expectations of consumers and businesses remain volatile.
