ISLAMABAD –  The Canadian government has issued a travel advisory for its citizens in Pakistan for their safety and security amid the prevailing security situation in the country.

The advisor cautioned the citizens about concerns related to the civil unrest, sectarians violence and incidents of kidnapping.

It also asked its citizens not to travel to the areas within 50 kilometers of the Afghanistan border, within 10 kilometers of the borders with India and Iran, and within 10 kilometers of the Line of Control (LoC), excluding official border crossings at Wagah Border and Khunjerab Pass.

Among the other regions for which the advisory has been issued include Karakoram Highway from Mansehra to Chilas, Kashmir, Balochistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, excluding Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Buner, and Chitral district.

The advisory comes after increase in the terrorists activities in different parts of the country. Sunni Ulema Council leader Maulana Masood-ur-Rehman was killed in Islamabad.

A number of incidents were reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Balochistan after termination of the ceasefire between the government and the outlawed Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in November.

A tragic incident occurred in December 2023, where 23 Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred in an attack on a security forces’ post in Dera Ismail Khan’s Daraban area.
