CM seeks reports from RPOs of Bahawalpur, Gujranwala in rape, slaying of two girls
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has declared the anti-polio workers as national heroes for their hard work and commitment to the cause of eradicating polio from the country and said that due to their efforts no polio case has been reported this year.
He was speaking after inaugurating a 5-day anti-polio drive by administrating vaccines to children at his office on Monday. Health Minister Dr Yasmeen Rashid, chief secretary and primary and secondary health department secretary also administered the vaccine to the children. SACM Hasaan Khawar and others were also present.
During the campaign ending on December 17, one lakh and 56 thousand polio workers would administer anti-polio drops to 17 million children up to five years in the province. Two days are reserved for children who could not be given the vaccine for some reason.
Usman Buzdar said that it was matter of satisfaction that all samples collected during the last six months have been found free from poliovirus and saving the children from polio disease was a collective responsibility.
The anti-polio teams are also trained about observing anti-corona SOPs, he added.
Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar has sought reports from RPOs Bahawalpur and Gujranwala about kidnap-cum-molestation of a girl in Chishtian and slaying of a 20 years old girl in Zafarwal.
The chief minister directed to initiate legal action against the perpetrators of the two crimes while ensuring justice to the affected girl and bereaved family.
