‘Big increase in Salaries of Govt Employees in Balochistan Budget 2024-25’

QUETTA – A sigh of relief for government employees is expected in Balochistan budget as the salaries are expected to rise by up to 25 percent.

For grades 1 to 16, the salary hike was proposed at 25percentt and 20pc increment for employees in grades 17 to 22.

All eyes are on Balochistan Assembly for presentation of budget for fiscal year 2024-25. Provincial Finance Minister, Mir Shoaib Nausherwani, is unveiling the budget after some delay.

Earlier, a meeting of provincial cabinet was held in provincial capital Quetta. The provincial budget’s outlay is Rs850 billion, comprising a non-developmental budget proposal of Rs600 billion and a development budget proposal of Rs250 billion.

Balochistan Budget 2024-25

Major allocations are planned for health and education sectors, with over Rs67 billion earmarked for health initiatives and a possible allocation of Rs120 billion for education reforms. Furthermore, Rs70 billion are expected to be allocated for peace and security measures, highlighting the province’s focus on maintaining stability and enhancing safety.

Balochistan budget is expected to propose Rs2 billion for Benazir Scholarship program and an increase in grant for universities to Rs5 billion.

anticipates receiving Rs647 billion under the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, which is a crucial source of revenue for the province. Additionally, Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) is expected to contribute Rs60 billion to Balochistan, supporting local development initiatives. The budget approval process will involve discussions and deliberations between government and opposition members to ensure comprehensive consideration of all proposals and priorities.
