In 2005 Pakistan observer decided to start aadmirable initiative.By awarding those Muslims states who have been a role model for others in terms of good governance.

As the founder of newspaper Pakistan Observer, Zahid Malik had great regard for the Muslim countries.

His work regarding the Muslim ummah has been recognized by many leaders and United Nations General Assembly also.

As he wanted to do something more in order to boost the morale of Muslim Ummah around the world.

So it was decided that a yearly award will be given out to the president of the state which fall in the category of best governed Muslim state.

The editorial board of Pakistan Observer was based of:

Mr. GoharAyub Khan, former Foreign Minister of Pakistan.
Senator S.M. Zafar, former Federal Minister of Law & Justice.
Mr. M. Abdullah Yusuf, former Chairman FBR.
Mr. Khalid Saleem, former Ambassador of Pakistan and Assistant Secretary General of OIC.
Mr. Liaqat Ali Toor, Senior Correspondent of Pakistan Observer

The judgement is based on sustained record of achievements in national development and economic modernization, sound fiscal management, progress in education, development of human resource, and administrative efficiency of the states.

The Board, after going through a lengthy process of consultations and interaction with foreign policy experts, senior analysts, diplomats, researchers, economists and think-tanks decides the conferment of the award upon the deserving State and leader.

Mr. Faisal Zahid Malik (Current Editor in Chief) then presents the award accompanied by the state’s respective Ambassador.

The first state to receive this award was Algeria,
on September 26, 2005 in Algiers this ceremony was held in Presidential house.
The award was presented to H.E. AbdelazizBouteflika,


President People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria in a ceremony held in President House Algiers.
Local and International Media was there to cover the event.
The Algerian President gave speech in which he mentioned the relation of Pak-Algeria and its Strength.
This Step taken by Pakistan Observer Strengthen the ties between Pak-Algeria.


The second state to receive this award was Azerbaijan.

This Step taken by Pakistan Observer improved the relations of Pakistan with AZARBAIJAN.
The award was presented to H.E. Mr. IlhamAliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan on May 8, 2006 in Presidential House Baku.
THE PRESIDENT OF AZERBAIJAN SAID IN FRONT OF INTERNATIONAL MEDIA THAT PAKISTAN IS ITS CLOSEST ALLY.

The third state to receive this award was Kazakhstan.

The Ceremony was held in Presidential house, Local and International media was there to cover it.
The award was presented to H.E. Mr. NursultanNazarbaev President of the Republic of Kazakhstan on March 29, 2007 in Presidential House Astana.

The Fourth State to Recieve this award was Oman, in 2009.

The award was presented to H.E. Mr. Yusuf Bin Alawi Foreign Minister Of Oman by Mr. Zahid Malik on May 27, 2009
