Punjab Finance Minister Makhdoom Hashim Javan Bakht presided over 4th meeting of the Smog Ministerial Committee held at Civil Secretariat Darbar Hall. The meeting was attended by Advisor to PM on Environment and Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam, Provincial Minister for Energy Akhtar Malik, Secretary Transport, DGPDMA and officers of all departments concerned. The purpose of the meeting was to review the Smog control activities under the Punjab Disaster Management Authority across the province. Director General Punjab Disaster Management Authority Khurram Umar Shehzad Umar informed the meeting that all concerned departments are committed to control air pollution to reduce smog intensity.
According to the reports submitted on daily basis by various departments, a total of Rs23,214,656 fines have been imposed for air pollution control in the last 15 days. 3,790 FIRs and 231 arrests have been made.
